The government has appointed 611 of the 668 candidates recommended by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission for the Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education) cadre under the 49th BCS (special) examination-2025, leaving out 57.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
According to the gazette, the 611 candidates have been appointed to entry-level posts in the general education cadre on the basis of the PSC recommendations.
The appointed candidates have been asked to join offices designated by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the education ministry by October 12.
Failure to join within the stipulated time will be considered as unwillingness to accept the appointment and their appointment orders will be deemed cancelled, it said.
Of the appointees, 61 are lecturers in Bangla, 44 in English, 49 in political science, 27 in philosophy, 36 in economics, 12 in zoology, 22 in social welfare, 27 in history, 29 in chemistry, 11 in Islamic studies, 22 in physics, 30 in Islamic history and culture, 22 in botany, 15 in sociology, 15 in geography, 30 in mathematics, 26 in accounting, 10 in marketing, 17 in finance and banking, 31 in management, nine in psychology and four in agricultural science.
The 49th BCS (special) examination-2025 was organised mainly to fill vacant posts in the education cadre. More than 3,12,000 candidates applied for the examination against 683 vacant posts.
A total of 1,219 candidates passed the written examination conducted under the multiple-choice question format.
After the viva voce, the PSC recommended 668 candidates for appointment to different posts in the final results published in 2025.
