Zaima Rahman, who holds a law degree from Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom, has been appointed as a legal officer at the office of Khalilur Rahman, president of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to information available on the office’s website.
She is the only daughter of prime minister Tarique Rahman and Zubaida Rahman. Zaima is also the granddaughter of former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
According to the website, 40 people from 29 countries are serving in various positions at the office of the president of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Besides Bangladesh, the countries represented include the United States, China, Russia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, Japan, Norway, Qatar, Australia, Ireland, Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Senegal and Haiti.
Zaima will oversee legal matters at the office as a legal officer, according to the information published on the website.
She studied law at Queen Mary University of London and later completed the Bar-at-Law in the United Kingdom.
Bangladesh’s foreign minister Khalilur Rahman assumed the presidency of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on September 8.
