Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the State Department, affirmed the U.S.’ readiness to collaborate with the interim government led by Dr. Yunus. In response to a question posed by journalist Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey during a Thursday briefing, Miller confirmed that the U.S. congratulates the newly formed government.

“Our chargé d’affaires attended the swearing-in ceremony of Professor Muhammad Yunus. We welcome Dr. Yunus’ efforts to end the recent violence, and we stand ready to work with the interim government. Dr. Yunus has taken charge for the democratic future of the Bangladeshi people,” Miller stated.
