The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Thursday ordered 30 fugitives, including deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to surrender before the tribunal in the Shapla Chattar crimes against humanity case.
The tribunal directed its registrar to publish a notice in two national dailies asking the fugitives to appear before it.
A three-member bench of ICT-2, headed by Justice Md Nozrul Islam Chowdhury, passed the order.
Ten of the 41 accused in the case, including four former ministers and state ministers, were produced before the tribunal on Thursday as they are in custody.
Journalist Farzana Rupa, another accused in the case, was not produced before the tribunal as she was ill, according to the prosecution.
The tribunal fixed September 16 for the next hearing in the case.
Chief prosecutor Md Aminul Islam later told reporters at a briefing that the prosecution would give priority to the Shapla Chattar case and seek to complete its trial quickly.
The case concerns allegations of crimes against humanity, including mass killing, committed during a Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel in May 2013.
The chief prosecutor also said the tribunal would deliver its verdict any day next week in the case against seven top leaders of the Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League, including former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, over alleged crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
