Nusraat Faria: Last two days most critical hours of my life

Just after walking out of jail, actor Nusraat Faria on Tuesday said she endured the most critical hours of her life over the last two days.

Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court granted her bail in a case filed over the alleged attempted murder of one Enamul Haque in the capital’s Vatara area during the July uprising.

Many in the media expressed relief at her release. Faria, too, shared her reaction shortly after walking out of jail.

At around 4:30pm, she posted through her Facebook page admin: “I endured the most critical hours of my life over these two days. I was shattered mentally.”

She expressed gratitude to those who stood by her during this time.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to those who stood by me throughout. From my colleagues to everyone in the industry, and even to the general public who spoke for me, stood for justice—I will remember this support and love for the rest of my life. Had you not been there for me, I might not have returned to you all this soon.”

Faria then offered special thanks to journalists. “I would especially like to thank our journalists. I truly needed their support. I will always remember your love for me,” said the actor.

Police detained Faria at Dhaka airport on Sunday while she was en route to Thailand.

She was later shown arrested and sent to jail by a court the next day.

According to the case statement, Enamul Haque took part in the July uprising in the Vatara area on July 19 last year.

That day, a bullet struck him in the leg.

He was later hospitalised in an unconscious state.

After recovering, he filed a case on May 3 this year.

The case names 283 individuals in total, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 17 artists.

Nusraat Faria is listed as the 207th accused and is alleged to have acted as a financial "backer" of the then-ruling Awami League.
