100C startup fund proposed to back new entrepreneurs

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has proposed a Tk100-crore startup fund in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2025–26 to support emerging entrepreneurs.

The adviser presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.

Unveiling the budget in the televised address at 3pm, Salehuddin said the fund would focus on tapping into the potential of the information technology sector and encouraging fresh talent to venture into the field.

"The fund will be created considering the potential of the information technology sector and to encourage new entrepreneurs in this field," he said.
